Win a Holiday virus

CATEGORY: Hoax virus alerts

A typical variation on the original Good Times hoax virus alert (see related link). It claims your computer will suffer a horrible death if you receive an email with "Win a Holiday" in the subject line.

Like most hoax alerts, it urges you to "forward this letter out [to] as many people as you can" because "this is a new, very malicious virus and not many people know about it." It also claims the alert "was announced yesterday morning from Microsoft." Naturally, the hoax alert claims "there is NO remedy for it at this time" if your computer gets infected.

The Win a Holiday hoax now usually shows up as part of a combination-alert chain letter. See related link for more details.
