Pool Party virus

CATEGORY: Hoax virus alerts

This poorly worded alert warns of a virus lurking in emails with "pool party" in the subject line. Like many hoaxes, it claims "this virus will not only effect your hard drive..but will destroy your monitor." And, like many hoaxes, it urges you to "please pass this along to everyone you know."

This hoax alert didn't find many gullible people when it surfaced in mid-2000 — but it started to surge in January 2001. Remember: old hoaxes never die, they just get a new life-cycle...
