Norton AntiVirus v5 alert

CATEGORY: Hoax virus alerts

Someone posted a hoax message on Usenet's alt.comp.virus newsgroup on 3 Jan 1999. It claimed the e-commerce version of Norton AntiVirus v5.0 contained a serious flaw. The hoax then asked customers to send email to "navsupp@yahoo.com" for more information.

Why a Yahoo address instead of a Symantec address? "[It is] our emporary e - mail technical support service ( its just while we upgrade our servers )..." Vmyths.com believes the hoaxster wanted to collect data from gullible users.
