Wednesday, 21 October 1998 Reports now trickle in about an email crash at the U.S. Postal Service. It appears a well-meaning employee forwarded the Win a Holiday virus alert to every USPS.gov email account. Other employees hit the "reply to all" button, causing servers to overload. USPS administrators performed "emergency maintenance" to get the email flowing again. Ah, the irony.
