![]() Truth About Computer Security Hysteria
1/17/03 bizarre recollectionVea Culpa, Corrections editorFriday, 17 January 2003 A "Vmyths Hysteria Alert" on 1/17/03 included a bizarre recollection: If the U.S. goes to war, Internet users will overwhelm mainstream media websites... This flood of Internet users will be identical to a distributed-denial-of-service attack. (Remember what happened to CNN's website during the O.J. Simpson car chase?)The O.J. Simpson car chase took place in 1994, a few years before the web grew popular as a news medium. Vmyths editor Rob Rosenberger used it as a temporary "place holder" while he composed the Hysteria Alert. He failed to change it to a valid event. Vmyths apologizes for Rosenberger's bizarre recollection. |
