5/30/00 prediction flopped

Vea Culpa, Corrections editor
Tuesday, 30 May 2000 Rob Rosenberger's editorial predicted Computer Economics, Inc. would issue a new ILoveYou damage estimate by 31 May 2000. The firm waited until 5 January 2001 to revise their estimate ($8.7 billion). Rosenberger made his prediction after calling Computer Economics as directed (using a pseudonym) to request "the latest financial assessment." The firm maintained its $6.7 billion estimate as of 29 May, but they promised to issue an updated figure by the close of business on 31 May. Rosenberger's prediction flopped, but he insists his editorial "pre-empted" Computer Economics due to embarrassment. However, Rosenberger's chest-thumping remains unverified.
