Rob Rosenberger raised his eyebrows when FBI NIPC director Michael Vatis failed to attend a White House antivirus industry meeting. Washington insider James St. Clair offered the following clarification in a public message: "Director Vatis did in fact have a family emergency and catastrophic loss of a family member — the communication chain was responsive enough to get the deputy's name in instead. I doubt this was conveyed during the meeting."
