Wednesday, 1 September 1999 "Atomic geography lesson"? It seems Rob Rosenberger doesn't know the Indian Ocean from the Pacific Ocean. Indonesia lies due north of Christmas Island — but he should have pointed out another Christmas Island farther to the east. The error occurred because Indonesia appears on two online CIA maps and Rosenberger studied the wrong one. No offense to CIA! Huge letters said "Indian Ocean" right below the island he cited. Duh. Rosenberger replaced the batteries in his own clue meter and promises he'll never ~~again~~ pick bomb targets for the military. A tip of the hat goes to reader Andrew G. Duffin for recognizing the geography error. Why can you find two Christmas Islands on a globe? Hey, Rosenberger did his research this time! Santa built a new summer retreat after Britain & the U.S. nuked his hangout. Generals take coal in their stockings pretty seriously, you know.
