12/28/99 clarification

Vea Culpa, Corrections editor
Tuesday, 28 December 1999 Graham Cluley (Sophos) pointed Rob Rosenberger to a press release which publicized his reasons for leaving Network Associates. Rosenberger saw it when it came out but, frankly, he didn't buy into it. First, it reads like a typical competitor-bashing press release. No big deal: you see them in every industry. (Remember when Pizza Hut lost a co-founder to Papa John's?) Second, and more importantly, Rosenberger received email from a different employee who expressed strong feelings about Vincent Gullotto (Network Associates). Rosenberger came to believe friction with Gullotto led to Cluley's abrupt departure. Cluley assured Rosenberger he left Network Associates for the reasons publicized in Sophos' press release. Any friction with Gullotto would have been caused by those reasons. Rosenberger's original opinion therefore stands corrected.
